Innovation in Vision Research Postdoctoral Training Programme is a five-year postdoctoral training programme funded by the European Union under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions COFUND scheme. The programme is coordinated by South East Technological University (SETU) in Ireland.
INNOVISION will support 12 postdoctoral researchers through two international recruitment calls. Each researcher will be employed for 30 months and will have the opportunity to define their own project within the field of vision science. Fellows will select their host supervisor from a pool of eligible researchers across academic, clinical, industry, and patient advocacy organisations.
The programme focuses on ocular disease and vision impairment, addressing the increasing burden of visual health conditions linked to ageing, chronic disease, and environmental factors. INNOVISION encourages collaborative research across a wide range of disciplines, including nanomedicine, pharmacology, artificial intelligence, psychology, molecular biology, and public health.
Each fellow will complete a tailored training programme that includes scientific and transferable skills development, with dedicated modules in responsible research and innovation, ethics, data management, open science, and patient involvement. All researchers will also undertake a secondment with a non-academic or international partner to expand their perspective and skills.
INNOVISION places particular importance on interdisciplinary, intersectoral, and international mobility, and on engaging with the real-world needs of people affected by vision loss. The programme is designed to support high-quality research while also contributing to researcher career development and long-term capacity building in the field of vision research.

We’re here to support you every step of the way.
